Freezer Jam 2002 will feature Fife and Drum Corps from throughout the Midwest, performing music from the Colonial period through the Civil War. This one-day conference consisting of sessions, workshops and hospitality throughout the day and evening will conclude with a muster-like performance to finish the event.

3rd Annual Patriots Day on Thompson Common
Sponsored by Thompson Historical Society
Thompson Common has hosted Militas and Fife & Drums since the 1750's. We have sponsored Musters the last two years to commerate the Call to Arms at Lexington and Concord. April 20 will be the third such Muster and we invite any and all Fife & Drum Corps to Thompson. Drill, perform and march on a Common that helped provide Patriots since the beginning of our country. Any unit interested in helping host this event is encouraged to contact President Babbitt.

The Mid-Atlantic Field Music School
The Mid-Atlantic Field Music School [ Map ] [ Weather ]
This event will replicate two days in the life of a Field Musician in training at the Civil War era Field Music School held at Governors Island, NY. The event organizers describe this weekend as, "a very intense weekend of training in the instrument of your choice (Fife, Drum, or Bugle) with nationally renowned top caliber Music Instructors. Also included will be training in the history and proper use of Field Musicians in camp and in battle, Customs of Service, drill and formations, as well as correct uniforms and equipment. Musical training will include the learning of both Camp Duty beats, tunes, and calls as well as battlefield signals, marching beats, and many tunes. Our schedule will encompass non-stop activities for the weekend, and will be fully regulated by bugle, drum & fife, as was the real school."

Saturday is mainly a re-enactment and 18th-Century encampment ... complete with a skirmish between British troops and colonists. Sunday, begins with a 9 am, 18th Century Church Service, and climaxes with a fife & drum muster of approximately 15 corps.
